When can only the OnePlus 5 screen glass be replaced?
Only the phone's outer screen glass can be replaced when the display underneath the cracked glass is still working correctly. The image must remain clear and stable, with no black spots, coloured lines, flickering or other display damage, and the touchscreen must work across the entire screen.
Replacing only the glass preserves the phone's original display, including its image quality, colour reproduction, brightness and touch sensitivity. This often allows the phone to be repaired at a lower cost than replacing the complete display assembly.
We always test the display before starting the repair. If the OLED or LCD panel itself is damaged, the touchscreen does not work, lines or black spots are visible, or the image flickers, the complete display assembly will need to be replaced.
Glass-only replacement is usually possible when:
- there are no black spots on the display
- there are no vertical or horizontal lines
- the image is stable and does not flicker
- the touchscreen works across the entire screen
- the OLED or LCD panel itself is not damaged
